Why They Ran…
“I'm a pediatric resident in my second year of training, and have committed my life to the health and well being of children. R Baby's mission so beautifully aligns with my own feelings about caring for kids, and I'm so excited to represent the foundation in the NYC marathon.” — Meg Ray
"R Baby is a wonderful foundation raising money to make important and necessary changes in emergency pediatric care. We couldn't be more proud to run in the NYC Marathon for R Baby and help spread the word about this charity. When we cross that finish line, we will be thinking about the countless families that will benefit from R Baby!" — Lori and John Conforti
“I am honored to run for R Baby at this years NYC marathon.
Running the NYC marathon has always been something that I want to do, and running to raise money and awareness for R Baby has made the experience all the better. R Baby is doing an amazing job making sure our ERs are prepared for our children when they need care. Children are not just "little adults" and they need care delivered by ERs docs and nurses that are trained in taking care of kids. I am so glad to support this charity.” — Josh Fiske
“My business is saving children's lives. As a pediatrician, there is nothing more important than improving the quality of care of our children in the emergency room through education, training, and state of the art equipment. It is my honor and my pleasure to run the marathon on behalf of R baby foundation”. -Stacy Berstein
“I am running for R Baby Foundation because I never want another parent to feel helpless in an emergency room with their baby.” — Passa Chattra

R Baby has Officially Launched Our New
‘Kids Help R Baby’ Program!
Sunday, January 12, 2013 | Soul Cycle, Short Hills, New Jersey
We are honored that Sydney Rosenbaum recently chose R Baby for her Mitzvah project. We are also thrilled that both Bryce Gelman and Jacob Werner have chosen R Baby for their Mitzvah projects as well.
R Baby’s Sim-Mobile Goes International!
Through funds raised in the Cayman and Jamaican Islands through GAIM, R Baby’s Sim-Mobile facilitated a group of Pediatric Emergency Medicine doctors, nurses and paramedics from across the US to conduct the Cayman Islands Pediatric Emergency Simulation Course May 14-17, 2013.
Led by Dr. Marc Auerbach of Yale University, the course was developed to meet the specific needs of the locale with dangerous, rare cases that require life saving interventions such as drowning, poisonings, and trauma. Simulating these incidents in a no risk setting provides invaluable experience these doctors would otherwise not have.
Over 72 medical participants from Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Jamaica gathered to collaborate and experience multi-fidelity pediatric simulation with over 25 simulation scenarios conducted over the two-day course. The goal was for the nurse and physician providers to recognize, treat, and manage a variety of pediatric emergencies in a safe but realistic setting. In addition, a website has been created to continue a bidirectional relationship between the Caymans and Jamaica and R Baby to address ongoing pediatric education needs. The course received national press on the radio and the newspaper in the Caymans.

How to Navigate an Emergency
Room Visit with your Child
Wednesday, August 7, 2013 | Forestdale Inc.,
Forest Hills, New York
R Baby Foundation and Baby Buggy Foundation presented, “How to Navigate an Emergency Room Visit with your Child” on August 7th at Forestdale Inc. in Forest Hills, New York. The program was an innovative parent education workshop for parents in low-income and underserved communities on preparing for pediatric emergencies.
Dr. Audrey Paul from Mt. Sinai Hospital presented clinical scenarios designed to teach parents how to be effective health advocates for their children. A visit to the emergency department can be an overwhelming experience for a parent and their child. This workshop pointed out different resources available in the emergency department such as an interpreter, access to a child life specialist (to provide a broad range of support services for the child and family), and effective pain control. Participating parents learned how to ask about discharge planning, diagnoses and medications. Children who cannot speak for themselves need their parents' voices to help them through any kind of emergency or urgency.

Forestdale Graduation Ceremony
Saturday, September 28, 2013 | Queens, New York
On Saturday, September 28, 2013, R Baby Foundation, Baby Buggy Foundation and doctors from Mt. Sinai hospital held our 3rd parent education workshop, “How to Navigate an Emergency Room Visit with your Child”, at Forestdale, Inc. in Queens, New York. The workshop was integrated into Forestdale ‘s powerful and inspirational graduation ceremony for more than 75 fathers in their Fathering Initiative-Stepping-UP Program.
Speakers introduced the event by talking about the importance of fathers in the lives of children and celebrating the commitment of these fathers as important stewards in the lives of their children. Often, fathers face additional challenges in advocating for their children because of their concern over appearing too aggressive. Dr. Audrey Paul and her staff shared scenarios that provided fathers with tangible ways to provide advocacy for their children that promotes partnership with medical professionals. The fathers at the Forestdale event were engaging, passionate and inspiring.
R Baby continues to expand this important education and empowerment workshop to new communities and populations and will be presenting additional workshops to include in-home childcare providers in low-income areas.
